I was super lucky and very excited to receive a delivery from White Heron Drinks of their British Cassis, a blackcurrant liqueur that is not as sugary in flavour to Creme de Cassis.

A perfect complement to Champagne or Prosecco, or delicious on its own poured straight over ice, the 50 ml bottles make perfect wedding or party favours for your guests.

After spending some time experimenting with different drinks to create some cocktails using British Cassis (it’s a tough job!), here is a selection of some of my favourite British Cassis based cocktail recipes.

One of the great things about these recipes is they can all be made in bulk, so are perfect for any celebration.

Cassis cocktail in short glass with orange garnish

British Royale

  • British Cassis
  • Champagne or Prosecco

Add some Cassis to the bottom of a champagne flute, top up with Champagne or Prosecco

British Bramble

  • 1/2 shot British Cassis
  • 2 shots Gin
  • 1 shot Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1/2 shot Sugar Syrup

Pour the Gin, Lime Juice and Sugar Syrup into a cocktail shaker.  Fill half the shaker with ice, and shake until the liquid is ice cold.  Strain into a glass and fill with crushed ice.  Drizzle the British Cassis over the top so it trickles through the ice.  Garnish with fresh blackcurrants and a slice of lime.

Pink Haze

  • 14 mls British Cassis
  • 14 mls Grenadine
  • Dry White Wine

Pour the Grenadine and British Cassis into a long glass.  Top with chilled wine.
