I don’t know about you but I’m still swooning over the stunning floral installation Philippa Craddock created for the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle two weeks ago!  Installations are a great way of beautifully decorating a venue and florals are becoming bigger, bolder and used in more exciting ways than ever seen before.

As well as installations, think hanging displays and garlands – couples are choosing to spend less on other areas of their wedding so they can go big on the florals.

If your budget won’t extend to mass installations for your ceremony and reception, consider an installation for just one element of your day.  Your ceremony is the most important part of your wedding day – aside from it being the part where you each say ‘I do’, it also sets the stage for the rest of your wedding.  Make your ceremony space personal to you by using flowers to create a floral arch over the doorway, installations along of the base of chairs, or arrangement of flowers on the back of chairs to really draw the eye along the aisle.

Inspiration board with ideas on how to use flowers in your wedding ceremony and reception

Florals are not just for the outdoors either, if your venue has a gorgeous staircase or fireplace, emphasise it with floral arrangements lined up the stairs, or a garland displayed across the top of the fireplace.  If your venue is a blank canvas, flowers are a great way of dividing the space or creating a ceremony backdrop if the space doesn’t already have a focal point (warehouses, barns, halls are perfect settings for this).

For your reception space, think hanging florals as well as flowers spread across the tables.  Create impact with mass table arrangements filled with fragrant and an abundance of your favourite blooms (if in season of course).  Give your guests a sensory experience on every level of your wedding day, from the food, to the entertainment, to the smell of fresh flowers.
