When you say ballroom wedding I think luxury, glamour and romance, not to mention thoughts of Strictly Come Dancing.  It might be the type of wedding you have been dreaming about since you were a little girl, the romanticism of being a princess for the day turned into reality on your wedding day.

With high ceilings, lots of details and character, incredible chandeliers and lots of natural light, ballrooms can be the perfect blank canvas for your wedding ideas to come to life.  Those visions might be the grace and grandeur of a traditional style ballroom, or chic and timeless style in a modern ballroom space.

Ballroom venues not only provide the perfect space for couples with larger numbers but they can also be made to feel intimate for those with a smaller guestlist.  With many décor directions to go in you could opt for a complementing colour palette to the existing décor, the use of lots of flowers and lighting to create interest or create a completely blank canvas by draping chiffon and silk from the ceiling and go from there.  Adding lighting can really transform the space into something extra special.

For a romantic vibe I love using lots of flowers to create a feminine feel without being over the top girly.  Big floral centrepieces and pillars holding tall arrangements add interest and a little drama.

For those looking for a more tranquil feel, use lots of plants and natural textures and materials to bring the outside in.

Romantic ballroom wedding inspiration board with wedding ball gown, white and gold table decoration, gold wedding cake.

I love the different elements of this inspiration board – the ceremony set up with the chairs at an angle gives the feeling of intimacy even in a large space.  The large floral arrangements on the pillars are perfect in the ceremony space and could be moved to add interest to the reception space.  The reception set up with the tall centrepieces, candlesticks and luxury linens gives a feeling of romance and sophistication.  And that floral walkway!  It’s elegant and romantic but still gives your guests a wow factor, enticing them to see what’s at the end.

Delicate place settings, an elegant cake, simple up-do and some bling on your shoes and the scene is set for your romantic ballroom wedding.
