Wedding trends evolve year after year and I like to think those ideas that have been popular in previous years are added to new ideas taken from the fashion catwalks, interior design and wedding décor, adding to an even wider range of wedding inspiration for you to choose from if you’re newly engaged. 

Trends of course aren’t there to define your wedding, they’re about providing inspiration for creating a day that is truly personal to you.  With 2018 seeing not one, but two Royal weddings, I predict we’ll see more simplicity in the coming year.  Here are a few more ideas I think we’ll see included into weddings in 2019:

Eco-conscious weddings – increasingly more couples are looking at ways they can have a more sustainable wedding day.  From foam free florals that include more garden style, natural florals to plastic-free that includes alternative food storage and drinks packaging.

Simple venue décor – setting the mood with candlelight is a simple and elegant way to dress your space.  A cluster of candles dotted around the spaces creates a romantic and elegant atmosphere that’s dreamy and luxurious.

Shimmer and shine – I think we’ll continue to see metallic touches but it will be less rose gold and more silver and chrome.

Simple and elegant dresses – Meghan Markle really set the scene for wedding simplicity and we’ll see more brides opting for dresses that are more tailored and classical.

Statement patterns and jewel tones – making a statement with bold patterns of stripes and polka dots and using bright colour palettes such as bright pinks, blues, purples and sea green will feature more in 2019 weddings.

Bringing the outdoors in – flowers become more natural, organic and romantic, with statement pieces such as overhanging installations, flower walls, greenery backdrops and trees taking centre stage.

Illustrated stationery – for the extra personal touch, many couples are opting for hand-illustrated designs of their venue for their wedding stationery.

Casual dining and interactive food stations – couples are veering away from the more traditional sit down dinner dining style to a more interactive and relaxed dining experience such as grazing tables, which will feature heavily in 2019.
