Valentine’s day may have been and gone but I saw this recipe for a pretty pink Hibiscus Cocktail and couldn’t resist sharing it.
This recipe uses hibiscus syrup which is made up of dried petals from the hibiscus flower, which is brewed like a tea and can be used in all sorts of cooking applications. The flavour is tart and citrusy, a combination of orange, lemon and cranberries. It can be drank as a tea, or used anywhere you’d use honey or a flavoured syrup. It’s delicious mixed with sparkling water or lemonade and paired with Prosecco or Champagne to make a delicious cocktail perfect for Spring or Summer.
To make this cocktail you will need:
- 1 bottle of Prosecco, Cava, Champagne, your favourite sparkling wine
- Whole hibiscus flowers, packed in syrup (you can buy from major supermarkets, Lakeland or Amazon)
- 8 teaspoons of hibiscus syrup, used to pack the flowers
Method:
- Place a whole hibiscus flower at the bottom of the glass. Fill the glass with the Prosecco, Cava, Champagne, or sparkling wine, almost to the rim. Carefully spoon 2 tsp of the hibiscus syrup into each glass.
Super easy and delicious, this cocktail is the ideal way to start your dinner party or drinks reception for an intimate wedding.
